Insider Series | Meet Danielle DeFiore Photography

We may be a little biased, but Colorado has some of the most incredibly talented vendors around— which got us thinking. We wanted to showcase some of our favorites in the industry with a little Q&A session over cocktails! We’re kicking off our inaugural Insider Series with the amazing and talented Danielle DeFiore Photography.

Q: Tell us a little more about you, your business and what you do!

I tend to give people the following quick pitch: I'm a full-time wedding, family, and portrait photographer and a part-time homesteader living on three acres just north of Denver. I got my first taste of Colorado on a trip to Telluride in 2003, and it didn't take long for me to make a permanent return—I moved up to the front range in 2007 and have been here ever since. I've photographed over 100 weddings in Colorado over the past eight years along with a handful of others across the country, but Colorado feels like my sweet spot. I'm deeply inspired by the never-ending natural beauty of this amazing state and the people and places connected to it. I'm a hybrid shooter—meaning I use both analog and digital film—and there's no greater honor to me than to play a role in a couple's celebration and help tell their story.

A Cozy, Fall Mountain Wedding in Rocky Mountain National Park | Black Canyon Inn + Twin Owls Steakhouse, Estes Park, Colorado | Colorado Wedding Planner

Today, we’re flashing back to a seriously favorite r+g couple from Fall 2017. Krystyna + Blaise are awesome in every way— funny, creative, intelligent, and most importantly, know how to throw a good party.

Our relationship with these two started a year earlier when we planned the wedding of Krystyna’s brother (and man of honor). We felt an instantly connection to their family, who are such warm and welcoming people, Naturally, we were thrilled when we found out we’d get to continue the fun + planning for another year with them.

Krys + Blaise wanted that quintessential, cozy cabin feel for their wedding and we’re drawn to the beautiful venues of Black Canyon Inn and Twin Owls Steakhouse in Estes Park, Colorado. Colorado decided to hand us a particularly windy Fall day in the mountains— but Krys + Blaise were so happy to be marrying each other, a little wind wasn’t going to stop this celebration! Ironically enough, Krys has an incredibly fitting song choice to walk down the aisle to Blaise— “The Wind” by Cat Stevens. Foreshadowing or coincidence….we’ll never know. Their heartfelt ceremony was filled with meaningful moments; beautiful words from their siblings and a serenade by BOTH sets of parents with ukeleles. All of K+B’s closest friends and family cozied up with blankets to escape the chill and watch these two promise each other forever.

Guests we’re warmly greeted by a cocktail hour at the steakhouse. Roaring fireplaces and a selection of fantastic red wines were waiting for everyone that walked through the door. In addition to a wine aficionado, Blais is also a talented watercolor artist; a beautiful hand painted watercolor seating chart, place cards + table numbers directed guests to find their seats for dinner. As the evening continued, guests enjoyed a delicious meal from Twin Owls Steakhouse and more heartfelt toasts were given by all of the people that clearly love these two dearly. After that, it was time to party— and party they did!

Krystyna + Blaise are going on year two of marriage now— cheers, guys! We loved being a part of your day and we loved reliving it through these photos. Wishing you all the years of happiness ahead! Vendor team listed below.

This Vibrant, Whimsical Flower Farm-Inspired Editorial Shoot is all the inspiration you'll need today - Featured on Rocky Mountain Bride | Fresh Herb Company, Longmont, CO | Colorado Wedding Planner

Oh, do we love a good collaboration. There is nothing more fun than seeing a team of wedding professionals let their hair down and design something truly unique— and we were able to do just that with our fab team involved in this shoot. This beauty is featured over on Rocky Mountain Bride today here and we are so thrilled to finally share the inspiration with you.

Our shoot was inspired by the beautifully quaint setting of a local flower farm, the Fresh Herb Company, in Longmont, Colorado. The property provided us with endless color and gorgeous views in every direction.

Meet Anna + Bryan. There is no denying they're 1000% in love which made them the perfect choice for our 'real couple' models. At the time, Bryan was destined for USCG training which meant they would be pushed into a long distance relationship in their first year of married life together. These two signed up with us so they would have photos to remind each other of their love while they were separated by distance. The entire evening spent with them was effortless, beautiful, and filled with love and laughter.
Our jobs allow us the freedom to be creative outside of our real weddings but there's still nothing better than making sure true love is portrayed in all the things we do.

We aimed to create a timeless look for all seasons incorporating dark blues and black against neutral white tones with bright pops of orange for our intimate table setting for 4. We love using texture for added dimension and brought that element into our design with driftwood and concrete floral vases, marbled plates, chiffon, vintage glassware, and a playful mix of poufs for seating.

We wanted to create separate spaces with distinction. Along with MJM Designs and Wallflower Rentals, we were able to pull together the coziest lounge setting to complement the surrounding flower gardens-- even creating a faux lamp with a floral lampshade to accent our lounge setting in the gardens.

The flower gardens and greenhouse provided a simply romantic backdrop for our couple portraits with rows and rows of budding lilies and snapdragons. The orange and purple flower fields illuminated by the Colorado evening light was nothing short of absolute magic. Anna looked stunning in a full-sleeved lace gown by The Bridal Collection and some seriously lovely pieces of jewelry by a local favorite-- Sarah O. Jewelry.

It Takes A Village— And Kathryn + Jake Have one | Private Property - Lander, Wyoming | Wyoming Wedding Planner

When we first chatted with Kathryn, she explained her ideal wedding day to us, held on a beautiful piece of private property in one of their favorite little towns (and the one they call home)— Lander, Wyoming. Kathryn + Jake had the vision to bring 200+ of their closest friends and family to this remote spot in Wyoming so they could share in the fun, funky small town vibe of Lander. (if you’ve never been….go visit. It’s awesome). They wanted to celebrate their first day of married life together over great food and drink and a seriously great dance party surrounded by the people they love most.

Given the beautiful and somewhat remote location (think lack of cell service, no power or water access, etc), this wedding was going to take a team of amazing vendors and friends pulled from all over the state and beyond. Luckily, Kathryn + Jake had ‘em! With the help of Wyoming Tent & Event Supply, Bistro Catering, Dandelion Farms, and an army of K+J’s more-than-willing crew, this stunning private ranch was transformed into the most perfect wedding venue.

We were amazed at the sheer awesomeness of Kathryn + Jake’s friend group. Throughout the wedding weekend, they would show up lending a hand with the array of tasks presented to them.— lining a 1/2 mile stretch of dirt road with luminarias, setting up 200 chairs in the middle of a field, or showing up in full force to surprise Kathryn + Jake with one of the best flash mobs we’ve ever seen.

Wyoming’s weather can be just as temperamental as Colorado’s weather; the Fall day started off sunny and warm. By the start of ceremony, Wyoming brought a little wind to the party but the weather held out while Kathryn + Jake exchanged their vows. As the rain started to fall, guests cozied into the tent and were greeted with margaritas and appetizers to warm them right back up. As cocktail hour continued, the sun reappeared and a huge rainbow filled the Wyoming sky. Kiddos ran around in the grass playing while the adults mingled and chatted over drinks and stories of recent adventures.

We loved the natural design elements that Kathryn + Jake incorporated into their day as well. The tent was filled with long rows of inviting wooden tables. The handmade place cards were individually tied bunches of herbs which led guests to their seats for dinner. The fabulous Theresa of Dandelion Farm created a beautiful and flowing design of greenery down the middle of each table. Candlelight filled the tent as the sun went down and guests enjoyed a delicious family style meal by Bistro Catering. Kathryn’s friend Meaghan, a trained pastry chef, created the most beautiful display of handmade cakes for dessert.

The dance party force was strong with this crew and we quickly understood why. Kathryn + Jake’s longtime friends had secretly planned a flash mob and taught all 200 guests the moves over the course of the last year. K+J were smiling from ear to ear by the end of it (along with us and everyone else in the room).

They say it takes a village and Kathryn + Jake have that village. We were constantly amazed by the dedication and commitment of their circle of friends and family. If the people you surround yourself with are a reflection of who you are, it proves that Kathryn + Jake are some pretty special people. And we couldn’t agree more with that. Cheers to you two! We adored working with you and watching you promise each other forever! You can bet we’ll be coming back to visit you in Lander. Until the next happy hour together, cheers guys! Xo.

Kayla + Dustin | Bohemian meets glam at this autumn Barn wedding |The Barn at Raccoon Creek, Denver, CO | Colorado Wedding Planner

Kayla + Dustin’s wedding was one for the books. These babes were married on a chilly Fall day at The Barn at Raccoon Creek. The morning started with Kayla + her bridesmaids sipping champagne, dancing, reminiscing and laughing while being pampered by the lovely ladies of Beauty Mark.

Kayla was an absolute dream to work with and we couldn’t get enough of her sweet personality, confidence and bold style! Enter Dusty— laid back and easy-going. It’s clear why these two ended up together— they complement each other so well. When you meet their families, it’s even more clear why they are the genuinely amazing people they are. They all brought such a wonderful enthusiasm to K+D’s wedding day (and quite a few happy tears!).

Colorado’s chilly Fall day created the perfect setting for Kayla + Dustin’s ceremony which was adorned with a stunning European mount, a beautiful lush greenery garland by Hawk Flowers, and accented with draped chiffon blowing in the fall breeze. Shaggy boho rugs were the final piece of the design and gave the ceremony location that bohemian vibe we adore. Kayla wore a stunner of a dress from one of our favorite designers— Rue de Seine. She had the gown customized to fit her bold style and we loved the draped sleeves she added to make it her own! Dusty’s all black attire complete with bolo was perfection alongside Kayla’s eye-catching dress. Kayla’s close relationship with her brother made him the obvious choice to officiate their ceremony. He, of course, incorporated all the personal details he could into their ceremony— talking about their favorite concerts at Red Rocks and all those funny ‘growing up with sibling’ stories (can’t pass up an opportunity like that!).

After a chilly outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour began and guests were invited inside to the equally beautiful boho inspired reception area. More greenery, gold accents, chiffon draping and a king’s table backdrop lit with the words ‘It Was Always You’ completed the look inside. Their wedding cake also matched the bold designs— a 2-tiered geode inspired wedding cake by Azucar Bakery. Kayla, Dustin and all of their guests danced the night away and took all the photos in one of our favorite photo booth options— The Shutterbus.

Cheers, Kayla + Dustin! We are so grateful to know you and thank you for letting us play a part in your beautiful wedding day. Xo.

Jenny + Julio | A Moody, Fall-Inspired Wedding at the Breckenridge Nordic Center | Colorado Wedding Planner

Jenny + Julio’s Breckenridge wedding day was filled with all of the good things weddings should be filled with. Great food, great people, a great dance party, and a great couple. Of course, being surrounded by the beautiful Fall mountain scenery of Breckenridge certainly doesn’t hurt the equation either. When we started planning Jenny + Julio’s wedding with them, we could see their vision of a cozy and elegant fall wedding coming to life at Breckenridge Nordic Center.

Colorado brought it’s moody, fall weather out and the amazing Karra Leigh took full advantage of the fall colors and mountains shrouded in clouds. J+J’s first look took place up Boreas Pass and didn’t disappoint. Their first look shots may be some of our favorite from the day (but let’s be honest, it’s hard to pick when they are all just so good).

Annie of Waters Flowers designed a jaw-dropping arch and florals for the ceremony bursting with fall colors and textures which complemented the surrounds perfectly— but her work didn’t stop there. With the combination of the beautiful handmade place cards and hand-tied burgundy napkins by Hunt & Gather and the mix-and-match floral arrangements at each table, guests were welcomed into a cozy and inviting reception area. The wood burning fireplace in the lodge was beautifully covered with greenery which gave the feeling it had been there forever. Any remaining chill from the outdoor ceremony was quickly forgotten with a glass of champagne in hand and a roaring fire.

J"+J’s wedding was our first time working with Love Pop Experience but certainly not our last. Any couples in search of a creative and innovative catering company, look no further than Love Pop. The owner, Jeff, has an incredibly contagious passion for food and the experiences that food creates. HIs attention to detail and true love of what he does shines through in the presentation, the quality, and the fun his team clearly has together. Their interactive family style menu provided guests with a chance to chat, laugh, and collaborate together over dinner and drinks (we’re still dreaming about their slow roasted fall-off-the-bone chicken, actually). We also loved the beautifully done butcher-paper menu display that showcased the dinner to come.

The fun didn’t stop at dinner— Jenny = Julio opted for a dessert of made-to-order freshly fried mini donuts by The Dapper Doughnut which paired nicely with the coffee station offering lattes, americanos and french press coffee for guests. Jenny + Julio then kicked off the dance floor with a lovely choreographed dance routine that had everyone smiling.

We’ll continue to look back on J+J’s day with fond memories of them and the vendor team that made it a reality. We’re sharing a sampling of our favorite photos below and the teaser video by Basecamp Visual. We hope you enjoy looking through them as much as we did. Cheers, J+J! We know you’re destined for a lifetime of happiness together!

Colleen + Jon | River Bend, Lyons, CO | Colorado Wedding Planner

Oh, Colleen + Jon. Where do we even begin? From the first moment we hopped on a call with Colleen, it was an instant connection. We discovered so many life parallels during our chat— we had both went to college in Orlando, spent an extended period of time traveling in Thailand, met our S/O’s on dating apps….it was clear we were supposed to know each other.

When we started the planning and had the opportunity to meet in real life, it felt like sitting down with old friends. Their ease and grace throughout the planning was nothing short of amazing and it was so apparent they were madly in love with each other. Their senses of humor were also on point (which we can appreciate).

Colorado has a way of being a bit temperamental with it’s weather in the Fall. On the day of their rehearsal, the beautiful River Bend was covered in a layer of snow. But 24 hours later, it had completely transformed into the most perfect Fall day you could ask for. We still smile thinking back to how much fun Colleen + her ladies were having in the glamping tent. Throughout the entire day, you could hear them laughing over champagne (and maybe the occasional shot of tequila), supporting each other and truly enjoying every moment they had together.

Colleen + Jon really wanted to make sure the focus was on the most important part of the day— the ceremony. The lovely Jen of Small Circle Ceremonies had all of us in tears with an incredibly emotional and beautifully spoken ceremony (and don’t get us started with C+J’s own vows— sheesh. Cue the water works). Surrounded by 40 of their closest friends and family, Colleen + Jon entered the next chapter of their life together.

From their matching Converse shoes to their heartfelt “first moment” together where they opted not to see each other but hold hands behind a tree, their day was magic. The seriously awesome duo, Allie + Marcus, of Cold Iron Photography captured this day in a way that conveyed every ounce of happiness, love, and fun.

We could go on and on about how much we love Colleen + Jon, their wedding day and their vendor team. Instead, we’ll let you scroll through their stunning photos and share in a little of the joy with all of us.

Cheers, Colleen + Jon! Here’s to a lifetime of happiness together and a friendship we hope to continue for years to come. We love you guys. Xo.
